House Bill 3433
Effective immediately
HB 3433 amends the Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 1702, as follows:

  • Requires the submission of fingerprints at renewal.
  • Creates a Class A Misdemeanor for license holders who knowingly fail to maintain documentary evidence of insurance sufficient to cover all of the business activities of the applicant or license holder related to private security.
  • Add exemptions for realtor who place lockboxes on homes for sale and for auto clubs and similar services that provide vehicle lockout services.
  • Authorizes DPS to deny an application or revoke a license based on the return of payment as delinquent, following adequate notice.

HB 3433 also amends the Health and Safety Code to require the medical advisory board to assist DPS in determining whether certain applicants or holders of a commission as security officer are capable of exercising sound judgment with respect to the proper use and storage of a handgun.
